How was born the Agriculture Department?
The Agriculture Department of ACEITES S. A. began on 8 August 2000 by initiative of the Management and Board of ACEITES S. A. with the aim of developing field work in order to increase the percentage of crude oil extraction, managing the nurseries to provide technical assistance providers and associated plantations, conduct research related to the cultivation in the different areas that affect productivity and select land for new crops, among other activities.
For the organization of this unit a call was made at the national level and was chosen to engineer LEON ARMANDO QUERUZ who immediately began the work.
The first results of the fieldwork showed that there was a significant percentage of loose fruit was lost and therefore are affected in the plant extraction, analysis of cases showed findings such as: handling very large harvest cycles; cultural work, mainly cleaning dishes and pruning, were not performed with the necessary frequencies thus loss factors were unrelated to the people working on the plantations, poor supervision in field additional to the above, not Plant management programs were therefore ran the risk of proliferation of pests and diseases.

For the management of crop cycles developed a work consisting of decreased crop cycles to 7 days prior dial palms with ripe grapes. With this work we managed to improve the efficiency of harvesters and decreasing the percentage of loose fruit to 5% so that losses also fell in the field.
